Welcome to Pearson Place, where we prioritize not just care, but connection. As families navigate the journey of finding the ideal home for their beloved family members, we understand the importance of a nurturing environment that fosters genuine relationships and meaningful experiences. That’s why we proudly embrace the Eden Alternative®—a philosophy that redefines the traditional approach to eldercare.
The Eden Alternative® is not just a model; it’s a way of life within our community. At Pearson Place, we believe that every individual, regardless of age or ability, deserves a life filled with purpose, joy, and dignity. The Eden Alternative® emphasizes this belief by creating environments where residents actively participate in decision-making, engage in meaningful activities, and form deep connections with others.
What sets the Eden Alternative® apart is its holistic approach to care. Rather than focusing solely on physical needs, we understand the importance of addressing emotional, social, and spiritual well-being. By integrating plants, animals, and intergenerational interactions into daily life, we create an environment that feels like home—a place where seniors can thrive, and families can find peace of mind.
We invite families to join us in embracing the Eden Alternative® philosophy. Together, we can create a community where every individual is valued, respected, and empowered to live their best life. Join us on this journey of connection, compassion, and care.
The Eden philosophy endeavors to create moments of joy in the lives of our resident Care Partners. Our resident Care Partners have a rich daily experience through companionship; opportunities to feel useful and valued; and connections to nature, animals, and children.
Eden Moments capture the experiences of our residents lived through the Eden principles.
Below are some recent Eden Moments from our Care Community. We hope you enjoy them as much as our resident and staff Care Partners did.
At Pearson Place, it’s always a special moment when we get to witness two wonderful residents connect and form a friendship. In Maple Cottage, Myrna and our newest resident, Bertha, instantly hit it off.
One day, I went to Bertha’s room to invite her to an activity, and Myrna, eager to help, followed me. When Bertha came out of her room, Myrna introduced herself, and the two of them immediately began dancing and hugging, as though they had been friends for years. It was a delightful surprise to see this bond form right before my eyes. They walked hand in hand to the activity, chatting and laughing along the way. Both of them share a love for dancing and music, so it wasn’t surprising to see them connect so effortlessly over shared hobbies.
It was a heartwarming reminder of how meaningful connections can form in unexpected moments. We look forward to seeing more friendships like this bloom throughout the building.
This beautiful moment reflects Eden Principle 3, which teaches us that we thrive when we have easy access to the companionship we desire. In fostering connections like these, we combat loneliness and nurture the well-being of everyone involved.
At Pearson Place, we decided to try something special this month, bringing a fun and creative experience to our residents. We invited one of our talented residents, Glenn Lynn, to lead an easy yet enjoyable painting lesson for anyone interested. Glenn, known for his kindness and helpful nature, was eager to participate. When he was asked to teach, his face lit up with excitement, and he graciously agreed.
On the day of the event, Glenn went above and beyond to ensure everything went smoothly. He helped set up the canvases and gathered all the supplies. As I was preparing the room for everyone to come down, Glenn surprised us by bringing out two of his own beautiful paintings to serve as reference images.
To make the lesson even more accessible, Glenn took the extra step of drawing the image on each canvas beforehand, giving everyone a head start. As we painted, we sang along to Christmas songs, creating a joyful and relaxed atmosphere. It was wonderful to see the creativity and skill that blossomed throughout the session.
This experience truly exemplifies Eden Principle 6, which reminds us that meaningless activity corrodes the human spirit. When activities have purpose and meaning—like this painting session—it not only nurtures our well-being, but it also fosters a sense of community, joy, and connection.
